We’re Patriots. No, we’re not part of the NFL team, the Patriots. We’re not even die-hard Patriots fans. This week we recognized Patriot Day on September 11th. On the afternoon of his eighteenth birthday, Daniel took a trip to Town Hall to register to vote. We were all excited for him, though it’s hard to believe that he is now actually old enough to vote! Filling out the registration form! We enjoy working with our local Registrars of Voters each election season.
We have a tremendous heritage as American citizens, but unfortunately not many people take time to think about it. For the past six years our family has organized a public reading of the Declaration of Independence in our town on July 4th. Each year for the past 10+ years we have participated in our town’s Memorial Day parade. This year one of the themes was the 100th anniversary of the United States’ involvement in World War I. Kathryn painted a simple representation of WWI soldiers to remember and honor those who served their country in that time.
