On our way back up north, we stopped and visited friends in North and South Carolina. Our friends in South Carolina live about 20 minutes from Myrtle Beach, so we stopped at the beach on our way to their house. It was rather windy there, and the waves were a decent size, especially compared to what we’re used to in Connecticut.

At our friends’ house, Daniel and Jonathan settled down to a game of Axis and Allies…
…while Susanna and Kathryn learned how to play Backgammon.

From South Carolina, we traveled a few hours to visit some friends in North Carolina. Jonathan had been friends with their oldest son, James, when the two of them were together in the ALERT (Air Land Emergency Resource Team) program in Texas about 15 years ago. They had lost contact with each other, but we recently reconnected with their family through some providential circumstances that the Lord worked out in His own special way! We spent a few hours with them at their lovely 10-acre farm, and very much enjoyed getting to know them!
They were so welcoming to our family!
We met some of their cows 🙂
This sign was hanging on their wall… and it is so true.
