This year we Bennetts enjoyed an unprecented 4th of July celebration! We’ve never had a July 4th like it before – it was a special day that will be long remembered!
To kick it off, the weekend before the fourth of July, Jonathan, Matthew and Daniel participated in a 5K Terrain Race with some guys from Matthew’s church.
Starting off…
At the “Tarzan” obstacle
Happy to have completed the race!
But that’s not what made our July 4th so special.
The Sunday before the 4th, we performed our annual Tribute to America concert at Nelson Hall.
We were happy that Kathryn and Joel were able to join us!
We had fun singing a song that Susanna wrote about “The Way We Talk”.
The guys sang a song that Matthew wrote – “Freedom Isn’t Free”
But that’s not what made our July 4th so special.
We hosted the annual Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence on the Cheshire Green on July 4th.
The Cheshire Historical Society gave us a taste of what dinner conversations may have been like in one Cheshire family’s household in the years leading up to the birth of our country with “Rufus, Eat Your Egg!”
We talked about “Landmarks of Liberty” – places that were important in the forming of our nation.
Members of the Historical Society read the Declaration of Independence.
What a great day for some good ol’ patriotic flag-waving!
Some of us took advantage of some cut-outs the Historical Society had outside for a fun photo-op.
Who strikes a better pose?
But that’s not what made our July 4th so special.
We had some friends over for a picnic, including a rousing game of wiffleball.
Jonathan was captain of one team
And Matthew was captain of the other.
But that’s not what made our July 4th so special.
THIS little girl is what made our July 4th so special!
We are rejoicing in God’s good and gracious gift to Joel & Kathryn, and are absolutely thrilled to welcome little Rachel Marie to the family! We look forward to the seeing the ways God is going to show Himself strong in her life.
“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD:
and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”
