Thanks to Lydia, our family has been making the most of the great outdoors these days, starting on March 20th when the spring season officially began. She issued a “Spring In Your Step” challenge and each participant committed to walking faithfully every week, even if it were just a mile or two. Some were ambitious and said they would walk every day. Others said they would walk a cumulative total by the end of every week. Either way, we will be walking until we bump into the summer season and who knows, maybe we’ll stick with it beyond that!
Our neighbors have seen a lot more of us as we stroll the local neighborhoods, in the morning, in the evening, sometimes even late at night (the ambitious ones have to get their walk in no matter what!) The foliage has been slowly transforming before us as we cover the miles week after week. And hopefully our muscles have become more limber and our endurance a little more hardy. Sometimes walking by familiar landmarks versus driving by familiar landmarks gives a whole new perspective on things.
James and Julianna came up for Easter and met our newest niece, already a couple months old! James also taught us to play Wingspan, a new favorite board game about birds. We had a very close game and ended incredibly with a three way tie! On Easter Sunday, we celebrated our Savior and His resurrection through song and we loved seeing how the Lord wove the themes of the different songs together into one cohesive flow as we introduced and sang them.
On the homefront, Carolyn and Daniel have been working to widen our little garden and the chickens have begun laying eggs again. We also helped move several walkers for Wheels for the World, a ministry that refurbishes mobility equipment and sends them overseas to disabled children and adults around the world. We appreciate the founder, Joni Eareckson Tada, and her testimony of overcoming a tragic crippling accident and allowing God to deepen her faith in Him in spite of her difficult circumstances. We are glad to help out her ministry and her team in our own little corner of the world.
As we continue in this season of spring, we are grateful for the fresh reminders the Lord gives us of His faithfulness from day to day.
