Over the past year Daniel has been exploring the possibility of joining the military. The top question is always, “Which branch?” God provided guidance and confirmations and then started opening the doors to join the Connecticut Air National Guard. He passed the entrance aptitude test, scoring in the 99 percentile in all four categories!! Because…

Surprise, Kathryn!
Kathryn, Julianna and Lydia babysit weekly for a mom’s Bible study at a church. The ladies worked with Julianna and Lydia, behind Kathryn’s back to plan a surprise bridal shower for her! It came together nicely, and it was so sweet of the ladies to do this for her. “Surprise!” And it really was –…
Unexpected blessings
We had a full and enjoyable Sunday last week! James and Jonathan Staddon from West Virginia emailed us that they were in CT that weekend. They joined us at church for morning service and lunch to follow. In the evening we had a concert at Harvest Baptist Church in New Hartford, CT. James Staddon has…
More times of celebration!
We sisters held a bridal shower for Kathryn at our church last week – we enjoyed meeting some of Joel’s relatives, as well as the fellowship with close friends and ladies from our church. It was a blessing to see everyone’s love and generosity toward Kathryn! We had a gardening theme since Kathryn loves working…
250 Years – in Gingerbread
The house we live in was built in 1768, so this year we are celebrating its 250th anniversary. Our celebration so far has consisted of eating foods from our Colonial cookbook, and designing our New Year’s gingerbread village in the style of Cheshire, 1768. According to our Cheshire history book, our house was built by…
January Sparkle
Our homeschool orchestra recently closed out another wonderful season with two concerts. Kathryn Dr. Finney requested two Bennett accordions to accent the haunting oboe and flute melodies in two of Erik Satie’s Gymnopedies. Susanna and Julianna then transported us to a French cafe with a charming duet of Souviens-Toi de L’Auvergne. Our small but resilient…
Merry Christmas!!
Christmas Eve after church in the morning we set out the candles for the evening service. We line the entire driveway and the whole effect is quite pretty. Elizabeth, Kathryn and Julianna lit all the candles while the rest of us prepared for the evening service. These four did so well with their spontaneous…
A New Voter in Town!
On the afternoon of his eighteenth birthday, Daniel took a trip to Town Hall to register to vote. We were all excited for him, though it’s hard to believe that he is now actually old enough to vote! Filling out the registration form! We enjoy working with our local Registrars of Voters each election season….
A New CD
Last weekend we spent Friday evening and most of Saturday recording a new girls Christmas CD. We enjoyed working together on the project, which will hopefully be ready in time for Christmas. Getting set up. We recorded at Nelson Hall at Elim Park, so we had to set everything up ourselves. Our recording engineer, Bobby,…
O Canada!
We enjoyed our visit to the beautiful province of Quebec to spend time with Grandmaman and also minister at L’Eglise Baptiste de la Beauce. Unfortunately we forgot to take any pictures of our concert, but we did get lots of other pictures through the week. 🙂 It has become a tradition to get a picture…
