We enjoyed several sweet highlights this fall. The ladies at Matthew and N’gella’s church hosted a baby shower and we loved seeing the thoughtful gifts N’gella received. We are so thrilled to welcome another little one into our family!
Around the same time, Matthew and Lydia traveled south for a mutual friend’s wedding. James photographed the event and Lydia backed him up as second photographer. She had a blast, working with James and Julianna as a team. After the wedding, she spent a week with them in West Virginia before traveling up to Connecticut for Thanksgiving.
The week of Thanksgiving saw the Bennett ladies busily baking pies for the extended family gathering at Uncle Rick’s. Kathryn and the girls lent a hand and our little nieces brightened our day with their happy chatter and giggles. We stored the pies in the breezeway, our mouths watering at the yummy goodness lined up at our door! During the week, we reflected on the heritage left to us by our pilgrim forefathers and spent a special time on Thanksgiving Eve recounting the blessings we enjoy. Thanksgiving Day, of course, was spent with the family, eating together, playing football and games and catching up. James enjoyed his first Bennett Thanksgiving and even scored a touchdown or two!
In this season of thankfulness, we were reminded that thankfulness is more than listing things we are happy about. Thankfulness requires an object or a person to whom we are thankful. God is the giver of all good things, His goodness is still showered on the just and the unjust, He is the One on whom we all depend for our very existence. King David prayed, “Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all its benefits.” Gratitude is one of the most crucial weights in keeping a balanced perspective on our relationship with God and others, for when we are ungrateful, we are forgetful. So, “Remember his marvelous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth!” (Psalm 105:5)
Congratulations to Matthew and N’gella on the new life they are expecting! So wonderful!
